‘Every module will have perovskite in the 2030s’ – Caelux on its tech, Indian expansion and the impact of next-gen PV

Scott Graybeal, CEO of Caelux, spoke with Will Norman of PV Tech about the company’s approach to introducing perovskite technology into solar modules using a perovskite-on-glass model, versus directly on silicon cell, and the benefits that it offers. In the article, Graybeal explains how this business model not only improves the return-on-capital economics, but also the long-term performance benefits of the module. This approach is presented as an “enabler” model, supplying perovskite glass to third-party module manufacturers rather than competing with them by building modules. The piece also covers Caelux’s recent partnership with Indian solar module manufacturers to integrate perovskite glass into their TOPCon lines, part of a broader push into India’s manufacturing incentive landscape, with Caelux still focused on the US for its next steps in manufacturing growth. Graybeal also discusses perovskite durability, noting that the technology varies as much between companies as any other product category, and says Caelux is already in qualification and certification testing toward 25-year module lifetimes.
